A Perfect Day in Geoje: A One-Day Itinerary
Spending a relaxing and adventure-filled day in Geoje was an unforgettable experience. Originally, we planned to leave right after work, but unexpected delays pushed our trip to late at night. So, we ended up resting at the hotel on the first night and fully exploring the city the next day.
π¨ Morning at the Hotel β A Relaxing Start
After a good nightβs sleep, I woke up to a breathtaking ocean view. The first thing I did was enjoy a hot bath with a view, which helped shake off the fatigue from traveling. A light breakfast later, we were ready to begin our adventure.
π First Stop: Sam Kimbap β A Famous Local Eatery
We headed straight to Sam Kimbap, a well-known eatery featured on the Korean show Baek Jong-wonβs Alley Restaurant. Their two must-try dishes are Tot Kimbap (Seaweed Stem Rice Rolls) and Geomi Sae Ramen (Tiny Octopus Ramen).
βοΈ Tot Kimbap β A crispy, nutty taste with fresh ingredients, creating a delightful texture.
βοΈ Geomi Sae Ramen β A rich seafood broth with a fresh and slightly spicy flavor.
Inside the restaurant, visitors had left colorful sticky notes on the walls. Inspired, we left our own little memory there before heading to our next destination.
πΆββοΈ Strolling Around Jiseopo Port
With full stomachs, we took a relaxing walk around Jiseopo Port. The calm sea, gentle breeze, and peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect place to digest our meal. We also spotted some adorable stray cats lounging around the docks.
π° Gojora Fortress β A Surprise Hiking Adventure
Next, we decided to check out Gojora Fortress, an ancient stone fortress built during the Joseon Dynasty to defend against invaders. Initially, we only planned to explore a little, but before we knew it, we had climbed all the way up to the top!
βοΈ A historic site with well-preserved stone walls. βοΈ Offers a panoramic view of the coastline. βοΈ Perfect for a short hike with rewarding scenery.
My husband wore Crocs, which made the hike a bit challenging for him. But once we reached the top, the view was completely worth it!
π¬οΈ Windy Hill β A Highlight of the Trip
One of my favorite spots in Geoje was Windy Hill. True to its name, the area had a constant, refreshing breeze. The parking fee was 3,000 KRW, with no time limit.
βοΈ A picturesque hill overlooking the ocean. βοΈ A scenic coastal walking trail perfect for a peaceful stroll. βοΈ The windmills and glistening ocean waves created a postcard-worthy view.
This was definitely one of the best moments of the trip!
π‘ Geoje Panorama Cable Car β A Breathtaking Ride
Next, we took a ride on the Geoje Panorama Cable Car, opting for the glass-bottom cabin to add some thrill to the experience. I was hoping for a wintery landscape, but instead, we saw bare tree branches, which still had their own charm.
βοΈ A high-altitude ride with a fantastic view of the islands. βοΈ The observation deck offers a stunning sunset over the archipelago. βοΈ A slightly chilly but peaceful atmosphere.
We stayed at the top longer than expected because the sunset over the Ria coastline was simply mesmerizing.
π¦ͺ Last Stop: A Seafood Feast at β0910 Myeolchi Jipβ
For dinner, we visited 0910 Myeolchi Jip, a restaurant famous for its oyster dishes and even featured in the Korean food comic Sikgaek.
π½οΈ B Set Menu (for 2 people β 60,000 KRW)
βοΈ Grilled oysters, oyster pancakes, oyster sashimi, and deep-fried oysters.
βοΈ Grilled shrimp and a comforting bowl of oyster porridge.
The freshness and variety of seafood exceeded our expectations. Every dish was delicious, making it the perfect way to wrap up our trip.
π― Wrapping Up Our Geoje Adventure
βοΈ Packed a full day of sightseeing into our trip.
βοΈ Enjoyed stunning coastal views from Windy Hill and Gojora Fortress.
βοΈ Rode the glass-bottom cable car for a breathtaking island view.
βοΈ Indulged in local delicacies like Tot Kimbap and fresh grilled oysters.
Even though we only had one full day in Geoje, it was an unforgettable experience filled with scenic views, delicious food, and refreshing sea breezes. Iβd love to return and explore even more!
